Spotlight

July was an exciting month in the world of Tines. We launched Tines 3B, the single, secure environment for every team’s apps, agents, and automation. It’s a new platform where everyone can build, while you safely run and monitor your organization’s most important work.

The Tines platform you already know is now called Tines Stories, and we’ll continue to invest in, support, and develop it. We shipped 36 updates to Tines Stories last month alone, all designed to make your day-to-day building faster and more flexible.

Share apps with ease

Apps got a lot easier to build and share with the people who need them.

Before jumping into a build, plan your app, and AI will generate a markdown plan document for you to refine and execute. You can quickly monitor usage within the app builder chat as it queries your app’s analytics.

Share your app with your teams using customizable URLs, and set user-level access control to share it with specific users in your tenant.

You can now open an app directly within a case using a case action, creating dynamic interfaces that augment your case view. MCP support for Apps brings the build tools directly to your AI interface of choice. This harness enables Claude, ChatGPT, or Copilot to build Tines apps as a tool.

Working with dashboards got easier too. Draft and edit mode gives you a working copy of an existing dashboard to use for deeper research or to stage edits before you publish.

Get time back while you build

You can save time by doing more without leaving the storyboard.

With a full visual editor, you can now define every part of a newly created case without leaving the storyboard. You can use formulas across every case element, then confirm with change control. This allows you to leverage your workflow data without giving up control over what changes.

You can also make updates faster across large or complex stories with find and replace, without needing to click into every action.

Give your agents live context and the newest models

AI in Tines can now search the web. Your agents get live web context and aren’t limited to what you loaded into the story.

Selecting AI providers and models dynamically at runtime lets you run the best available model without rebuilding your story.

New models arrived too: Claude Sonnet 5, our default model, in addition to the GPT-5.6 family.

Integrate cases and credentials from anywhere

The cases you build within the storyboard can be leveraged when interacting with cases from tools outside of Tines. Create a case from a template via the API, and subscribe to the case notification webhooks. This allows another system to open and track changes in a fully-formed case from a template without building a story.

Credentials are also now easier to manage. You can see everything that depends on a credential before you touch it using the Credentials API. If a credential needs to be rotated, notify the story owner directly with a one-time notification

Audience corner

For admins

API key creation permissions are now refined down to the person, rather than something every user can do by default. This limits who’s responsible for programmatic access, so every key in your tenant has a known owner.

Give a team lead visibility into who has access with user read tenant permissions, without giving them the ability to add, remove, or re-assign anyone.

For self-hosted teams

You can now manage SMTP settings dynamically without a full restart.

The tines-app container image now has a hardened foundation. This reduced package footprint means fewer components for you to triage, and a simpler story for your image scanning and compliance reviews.

Use custom runtimes over a tunnel and own your packages and pre-installed dependencies, without needing to move anything into the cloud.

Community highlights

Builder Connect brings Tines builders across security, IT, and operations together to share real-world workflows, learn from peers, and earn ISC2 CPE credits. New dates and locations are live and open for registration.

On the horizon

Tines 3B is just getting started. We’d love for you to try it out with the Explore Edition and let us know what you think.

You’ll find every Tines Stories release on our What's new page. Drop us a note in the Tines Slack community —  your feedback shapes what we build next!
