Story copilot is an AI-chat interface for the storyboard. It helps you understand, maintain, manage, and build stories (i.e. agents, automations, playbooks, run books, etc.) using natural language.
Intelligent workflows for everyone
We believe intelligent workflows should be within reach whether you’re a solo builder, a lean team, or a company scaling workflows across the enterprise. That belief has been core to Tines from day one.
That’s why Story copilot is available to all tenants. This includes our Community Edition and new Starter Edition, which is designed to support small businesses as they begin their intelligent workflow program.
You can see that Story copilot is not consuming your run-time AI credits via the reporting view. And, for tenants bringing their own model, this same report shows your token consumption to help you manage costs.
AI on your terms
As with all AI in Tines, it’s on your terms. You can choose which model (including your own) is used by Story copilot. And, for customers with custom roles, you can choose which users and teams access the feature.
Story copilot’s permissions mirror the permissions of the user interacting with it. This means, if the user can only view the storyboard, the same applies to Story copilot. It won’t be able to build or edit the story.
Getting started with Story copilot
We know the anxiety of a blinking cursor… so we thought we’d help you get started with a few ideas of how to use Story copilot.
Here are some prompts we’ve loved over the last weeks as we tested this in our own environment:
“My story isn’t running the way I want it to. Can you help me figure out what’s wrong?”
“We changed from X tool to Y tool. Help me update the credentials.”
“I didn’t build this story, can you explain it to me?”
“Wanting a health check on my story. Are there any updates I should make?”
What’s next? Use Story copilot!
Through April 16th, 2026 all tenants can interact with Story copilot in an up-capped capacity. This allows us to better understand real-world usage patterns and the costs of supporting the feature. We will communicate any capacity requirements well in advance of April 16th.
We want you to use this feature as much as you like! We expect to see crazy usage numbers that make our finance team ask: Why the heck did I agree to this?
