Test with change control

Once you're in a draft, you can build and edit just as you normally would in Tines. The key difference is that nothing you do here affects the live story. This freedom to experiment is what makes change control so powerful.

Test with external data

While testing your changes, you may want to send real data to your draft instead of the live story. Tines makes this easy by providing unique URLs for each draft:

  • Webhooks: Draft webhook URLs include a parameter ?draft=mydraftname. You can find and copy this URL from the webhook action's properties panel.

  • Pages: Draft page URLs also include the ?draft=mydraftname parameter. Copy the link directly from the page activity bar.

  • Receive email actions: Each draft gets its own unique email address, which you can copy from the action's properties panel.

Use live event in drafts

Sometimes you want to test using real data from your live story. By default, live events are included in the events list within drafts. You can toggle this on or off in the events panel. This means you can:

  • View live events in your draft's action events list.

  • Use live events to test an action.

  • Re-emit a live event into your draft.

  • See live events in autocomplete suggestions while building.
