Security and privacy

Security by design

One of the most important things to understand about AI in Tines is that security and privacy are built into how our AI features work. You can use AI features with confidence, knowing that your data is protected.

  • Your data stays private: When you use AI features in Tines, your data never leaves the Tines infrastructure; there is no public network involved in AI processing, and queries and outputs are never logged or stored by AI providers. This means you can process sensitive information through AI features without worrying about data exposure or leakage.

  • No training on your data: A common concern with AI tools is whether your data will be used to train models that others can access. With Tines, this never happens. The AI models process your data to complete the task you've requested, but they don't learn from your data or retain any information about it.

  • Secure infrastructure: AI features in Tines run within a secure, isolated environment. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and access is controlled through the same security measures that protect all your Tines workflows.

You can build workflows that process sensitive data through AI features without additional security concerns. The same security standards that apply to the rest of Tines also apply to our AI features. If your organization has specific compliance requirements, your tenant owners can configure AI providers that meet them. You can focus on building intelligent workflows, knowing that the security is handled at the platform level.

🪄Tip

Bring your own AI (BYOAI)

Some organizations choose to bring their own AI provider instead of using the default Tines provider. This is often done to meet specific security, compliance, or operational requirements.

What this means for you as a builder

If your organization has configured a custom AI provider, your workflows will work exactly the same way. You don't need to change how you build or configure AI features. The AI Agent actions, automatic mode, and other AI features function identically regardless of which provider is powering them.

The main difference you might notice is in credit usage. When your organization uses their own AI provider, AI features may not consume Tines credits in the same way. Instead, the AI processing happens through your organization's provider. Your tenant owner can provide details about how this affects your team's resource allocation.
